Meet the Crafters: Kim Munson of Oprhanage Clothing

Crafter Kim Munson is the designer behind Orphanage Clothing. Her clothing designs are putting Halifax on the map as a place to find amazing fashion designers.

What do you make? clothing made from deconstructed garments

What is your process? Buy a tshirt/suit/trenchcoat, tear it apart, trace new pattern, cut, sew, sell.

How long have you been a crafter? Since the Khyber days.- 4 years??

Why do you do what you do? If I didn’t do this I would die.

What is your background/How did you get started? I studied Fashion Design in Toronto at the International Academy of Design and Technology


When you're not selling at Crafters markets, where can I find your work?
Across Canada in fine boutiques, locally at ProSkates on Quinpool, also, personally through the website

How long have you been involved with Halifax Crafters? Since the Khyber days


What makes Halifax Crafters different from other shows? Kitschy, awesome local art,craft. Great handmade stuff. Lots of absurd and weird finds.


What are you excited about seeing at the Holiday market? New vendors
